Safety is paramount in any workshop environment and we offer a dust extraction kit in our range to assist the upgrading of your machines to the latest specification regarding dust emissions  Plus No-volt switches and footswitches for mechanical and electrical safety.

Experiencing problems holding the work firmly on the work table, because of weakness in your hands, then a Hold Down Arm & Guard is an invaluable accessory to the machine. It is highly recommended for young people because despite the fact that scrollsaws / fretsaws are very safe to use the hold down arm and guard gives them the confidence they need to use the machine. In some circumstances the Hold Down Arm and Guard may be necessary to satisfy the Health and Safety at Work Act.

Machine Stand:

Any machine is only as good as its base. The space saving Hegner stand gives a firm stable base that will not rock no matter how uneven the floor. Made of heavy duty welded mild steel, it sets the machine at a comfortable working height when standing or sitting on a high work stool.

Footswitch:

The use of a footswitch greatly increases operator safety and convenience especially when concentrating on intricate work, allowing the operator to pause momentarily while contemplating the next move. A footswitch also helps when working with large pieces. Our durable cast industrial footswitch is rated for over 10 million operating cycles. The machine runs only while the switch is depressed - a great safety feature for educational use.

To accomplish high quality work on the Scrollsaw / Fretsaw it is essential to have adequate lighting. When working with fine intricate work a magnifier makes all the difference. Our combination Lamp & Magnifier uses a 60 watt eddison screw bulb (included) and a 3 x diopter 175% magnification lens to provide effective illumination and magnification to your work when cutting the most detailed workpieces. It comes complete with its own mount (shown in picture insert) that will attach to any work surface or can be fitted to the machine using our machine lamp brackets.

A clock key is supplied as standard with all new HEGNER Scrollsaws / Fretsaws and is used with the CLOCK SCREWS to tighten up the HEGNER BLADE CLAMPS. This tightening method eliminates screw head stripping and wrench slippage forever!

Table Inserts:

The use of Table Inserts is relatively new on the Hegner range of Scrollsaws / Fretsaws. The standard steel insert that comes with the machine preserves the table arround the blade area and can easily be replaced should it become worn. When cutting thin veneers, thin plywood or thin metals, it is better to use the plastic inserts. To use these cut a slot in the plastic disc that is only just the width of the blade you are going to use. Place it in the table and it will give maximum support to the work and avoid the damage that can occur if using the standard discs.

Coolant Fluid Reservior:

This reservoir and pump assembly includes a 4 litre tank, tubing, foot pump and exhaust nozzle which mounts on the hold-down arm. Use with oil or cutting fluids to dispense small quantities on the work when cutting metals or washing-up liquid when cutting plastics.

Dust extraction is now a legal requirement under Health and Safety legislation as applied to Education and Industrial establishments. Dust extraction ducting is supplied as standard with all our new machines, but many of our customers have need of a kit to upgrade older models of saw. These kits are easy to fit and when fitted correctly and used in conjunction with a dust extractor reduce dust levels to under 0.25mg per cubic metre.

No-Volt Switch:

Electrical safety is of primary importance when working with children or in production premises. We supply this No-volt switch ready to mount on the machine using the screws provided for the hold down arm. When the power supply fails it automatically returns to the off position, ensuring that when the power comes on again the machine does not automatically start. The front cover of the switch also serves as an emergency stop mushroom switch.Also included is current overload circuitry with a reset button underneath the switch box. Supplied with powr lead and an IEE Plug to wire the unit into your existing machine. If ordered with the machine we will  wire it in for you prior to despatch. Only works with 220/240 volt single phase supply. We can supply this switch with cable for use with other machinery.
