Standard Toolrests:-
Good toolrest design
is important to the overall function and enjoyment of the lathe. It is important that the rest does not trap the fingers of the leading hand when used in an underhand mode giving the unrestricted freedom to role the tool to acheive the correct cutting angle. Our standard rest design comes in two sizes 250mm(10") , the standard rest which comes with the lathe and the larger 350mm (14") rest giving extended reach.

Specal 150mm Toolrest for small or minature work:-
When turning small or miniature work it is essential to get as close as possible to the turning
axis with tool suport and still maintain unristructed space for the leading hand for tool control. We have designed a special 150mm (6")
toolrest for this purpose instead of relying on a standard toolrest design whichcan become a little restrictive when the toolrest is this short.

Deep Hollowing Rest:-
Conventional tool rests cannot generally be positioned
so as to give support to the new (and very useful) breed of deep hollowing tools inside a narrow necked vessel. These tools are presented horizontally and although they are designed to resist bending under heavy cutting loads, support near the end of the tool to minimise overhang greatly improves control and cutting quality.
The new HDB "Deep Hollowing Rest" has a strong supporting body with a telescopic extendable bar that can be positioned to give support to the tool up to 10" inside the work. A
"Swivelling Fork" can be located in the end of the bar to give a positive seat for the tool when it is out of site. An alternative "Fulcrum Pin / Stop"
is also available for the end of the bar so that the turning tool is not captive and still be manipulated along the length of the bar without the danger of it running off the end.
T
he turner's end of the main tool rest bar extends back through the post to act as a handrest. Provision is made for a
"supplementary handrest bar" to be inserted through this section at 90°. The effect is to provide an extended anchorage/support structure
for the forward hand or forearm outside and away from the turning work. (The "Deep Hollowing Rest" is available with either the standard 25mm stem or a 20mm stem to suit earlier HDB models and indeed other makes of lathe.)
